Skeleton Bridge (working title)
Here's a piece with a more stylistic approach and attention to color. Still a work in progress, I'm thinking of replacing the character with someone more fun.

I don't usually go this detailed in my line work before I paint but I wanted to figure out the design plus the costume detail without having to worry about rendering. Juggling too many elements doesn't always give me the best results. Why work the hard when you can work smart, right?
Update 1 - June 9 2014
I gotta say breaking the process down into line art and painting really simplifies things. It can be a real challenge sometimes to juggle both design and painting, especially when your designing something totally new and unfamiliar. I find this approach much easier, however, I lose the painterly aesthetic which does so much for the music in a painting. I'm sure there's a way to get the best of both worlds, but that's a problem for another time, right now I gotta focus on getting this fella done. More on the next update.
